DeBrincat scores 2 as US routs Denmark

KOSICE, Slovakia (AP) Alex DeBrincat had two goals and an assist to help the United States rout Denmark 7-1 on Saturday for the Americans' fourth straight victory during preliminary play at the world championships.

Jeff Blashill became the winningest U.S. coach in world championship history in the top division with his 18th career victory in 23 games.

Patrick Kane added three assists; Jack Eichel had a goal and an assist; and Frank Vatrano, Clayton Keller, Chris Kreider and Dylan Larkin scored a goal apiece. Goalie Cory Schneider made 21 saves for his third victory this tournament.

Sharks, Blues confident entering Game 5

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) The San Jose Sharks have been at their best this postseason when they had little margin for error.

That's probably why they feel comfortable heading home for Game 5 of the Western Conference final against the Blues after a lackluster start led to a Game 4 loss in St. Louis.

Bruins hope to have Chara for Cup Final

BOSTON (AP) The Bruins were able to sweep Carolina in the Eastern Conference final without captain Zdeno Chara.

Now they're hoping 10 days off before the start of the Stanley Cup Final will be enough time for the defenseman to return.

Davidson leaves Jackets to join Rangers

John Davidson is going back to the New York Rangers organization he has been synonymous with for much of his hockey career.

Davidson was hired as team president Friday hours after leaving his post with the Columbus Blue Jackets. He returns to New York where he spent parts of eight seasons as a Rangers goaltender and was a TV analyst for almost a decade.

Finland, Czechs post wins at worlds

KOSICE, Slovakia (AP) Mikko Lehtonen had a goal and an assist as Finland shut out Britain 5-0 at the hockey world championships on Friday.

Toni Rajala, Atte Ohtamaa and Joel Kiviranta each scored in the second period before Kristian Kuusela stretched the lead to 4-0 with an empty-net goal in the third. Lehtonen finished it off with a power-play goal with 11 seconds remaining.

Bus driver sues Sens in harassment suit

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) A former Ottawa Senators assistant general manager and the NHL hockey team were sued for negligence on Friday over allegations he harassed a hotel shuttle bus driver last year in Buffalo.

Also named as a defendant in the lawsuit along with Randy Lee and the Senators is a bar and grill called 716, where he had been a patron on the night of the incident. The suit seeks unspecified damages.

Rangers assistant GM Schoenfeld resigns

NEW YORK (AP) Jim Schoenfeld has resigned as vice president and assistant general manager of the New York Rangers.

The former NHL defenseman and coach spent 17 seasons in the Rangers' organization, serving in a variety of roles. He spent most of that time as general manager of the AHL's Hartford franchise, which he also coached for two seasons.

Stars give D Lindell 6-year, $34.8M deal

FRISCO, Texas (AP) Dallas Stars defenseman Esa Lindell has signed a $34.8 million, six-year contract that will run through the 2024-25 season.

The deal with an average value of $5.8 million per year was announced Thursday, a week before Lindell's 25th birthday. The 6-foot-3 Finn was a restricted free agent.

Preds agree to arena lease through 2049

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) The Nashville Predators finally have the kind of security the former expansion franchise has been wanting for years after agreeing to a new 30-year arena lease that runs through 2049.

The Predators announced the agreement Thursday for Bridgestone Arena at a Metro Nashville Sports Authority meeting. The sports authority is expected to vote on the new lease next month.
